Check out my one to one interview below with Hot 97 DJ Young Chow

How would you describe your style?
"I would describe my as style unique because I love all kinds of style and fashion. One time I may be urban and other time I may be preppy, I like anything, I'm just a very unique person."

I read in your bio that it's always been a dream to DJ for Hot 97.  Now that you've achieved that, what's next?
"Next is movies.. I really want to get into movies & acting and stuff in that kind of criteria. I also want to do modeling, I love modeling/ I love doing those kids of things."

You take a lot of pride in blending your culture into your music and lifestyle. How much of your Caribbean culture influences your fashion & lets rewind that because King Chow, your Father is also a known Soca DJ?
"Well my father King Chow... He's originally from Trinidad & Tobago (Trini-Chinese) so that's how I got the last name "Chow" Thanks to my father and his style was very unique as well; Pretty boy back in the day so I just took over my father's style and ran with it.

Interview | Up Close & Personal with S+B MODE

-

So you guys know that I have a "Passion for Fashion" so this would be at no surprise that I do whatever I can to find the newest/ hottest trends, stalk celebs (lol), and even have my chance to interview some up and coming designers and now image and wardrobe consulting companies.

Check out my Q&A below of NYC based Image and wardrobe consulting company S+B Mode on what's new and hot with this thing that we call FASHION.

Tell me about yourself/company?
Shante: Beverly and I have been friends since college! We have so many things in common but yet we’re so different. One of the things we share a love for is fashion and we love every aspect of the industry. This year I approached Beverly about starting S+B MODE and as a collaborative effort we were able to put together a great concept and business plan for our wardrobe consulting company.

Beverly: S+B MODE is a wardrobe consulting company and we’re based in NYC.  Shante and I have constructed a company that fits the needs of every woman and man offering the most unique services such as wardrobe facelifts and personal shopping tours.

How did you get into this field?
Beverly: While in college, I interned at many fashion houses doing Public Relations. This gave me a clear idea of what I really wanted to do when I graduated and that was styling. After I graduated,
I started testing with models and photographers and started building my book!

Shante: As a student in college, I did a lot of freelance styling. John Moore, celebrity stylist, was a mentor to me for some time. From then on, I knew I wanted to style the people that walked the streets of New York City.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Shante: There are so many highlights about this job. The best part is being able to shop the boutiques and getting a personal tour of your client’s closet. It’s always interesting to go through a client’s closet and view what’s cool from they’re perspective.

Who are some celeb clients (If any) that you have worked with?
We worked with Victoria Secret model Barbara Fiahlo - love her! :)

Who is one person on your list that you would love to work with and why?
Beverly: There’s so many! But our absolute favorite is Zoe Saldana. She is so effortlessly chic, such a classic. She has such a raw edge about her that I think can be pushed and translated so amazingly.
Shante: I’d like to work with Kelly Rowland. She’s such a beautiful woman and I feel like she has so much potential style wise. I’d like to see her push the envelope a bit more.

What is your fashion Inspiration?
We get inspired by everything. Blogs and magazines play a major role. However, we really get inspired by people, art, culture and music. These are the creative elements that really keep us going.

As far as fashion what do you think is this season hottest trend right now?
This season’s hottest trends right now are punk meets sportswear and nouveau chic. Leather is a major trend this season as well as electric color coats. Winter white never runs out of style and don't forget your fur in dark hues. But always include your personal style in everything you wear. Originality is everything.

A Fendi Bag Dishes it out
with Stylist
 Dani Nichole

WHO is Dani Nichole?

Dani Nichole is a southern girl with city dreams, born and raised in Memphis, TN she moved to New York 3 years ago to purse fashion and attend the Fashion Institute of Technology.

What is your biggest inspiration/ where do you get your inspiration from?

Everything around me is inspiration, I would have to say my biggest inspiration is my family and where I came from, people were not taking chances and putting it all on the line to fulfill their dreams I wanted to be different I needed to grow and so did my creativity and that was my biggest inspiration leaving and making a way out of no way.  I get my inspiration on the train, walking down the street, eating, and even sleeping. Its all around it comes naturally.

Who is your favorite designer(s) and why?

My favorite designer is Tom Ford. I just love him & his style he understands a woman’s silhouette he always gets it right his garments look rich, high-end, and sharp. He’s also not afraid to take chances and be innovative.

What do you think is your strengths and weaknesses in the art of fashion?

My strengths are that I breathe fashion and not just the “fun part” I understand garment construction and I can make and type of garment. My weakness is that I am too hard on myself and I’m a perfectionist I don’t know when to walk away. (Lol)

How are your clothes different from the other designer?
My garments are different because they come from my heart I sketch everything then I drape then I sew and my garments don’t look “Home Made” and I don’t take the easy way out by only using fabrics that stretch or spandex you will always see zippers, darts, seams, etc.

What is your favorite season for fashion?

My favorite season is fall you can do so much! Your layers look, leggings, boots, and cable knit sweater etc! (I get excited just thinking about it! lol)

What makes your design different? What is unusual?
What makes my designs different are zippers! I love zippers you will always see something conventional on my work and I also love sweetheart neckline   that has also become my signature.

What is the best perk in being a designer?

Best perk is if you have nothing to wear you can sew it, if you have no money for clothes you can sew it, if you see a garment in the store and you don’t want to buy it you can sew it.

What trends do you see being big for 2013?

Trends for 2013 lots of leather and lace bold colors and prints which I love!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a career in fashion?

INTERN! INTERN! INTERN! This is very important the experience is worth more than the money get the knowledge, get the connects, and also KNOW YOUR FABRICS!
